Locksmith in Midway, Utah Helps Save a Woman Who Wrote "911" on Her Hand in Silent Plea For Help

Midway, Utah: A locksmith in Midway, Utah went on a call, last week, to change out the front door locks at a residence. According to a report by the Wasatch County Sheriff’s office, the locksmith called authorities when he finished the work and told them that a woman at the residence showed him her hand, which had “911” written on it.

The locksmith, identified only as Greg, said there was a man in the house who “acted suspiciously”, staying close to the female and only allowing her to have her phone with his permission,” according to a CNN.com story.

Greg called authorities, and when deputies arrived at the home, they learned that the man identified as Grant Eggertsen, had been in a relationship with the woman in the past and had entered the home without permission. He assaulted her and would not allow her to leave the home. Deputies arrested Eggertsen and he was charged with aggravated kidnapping in the course of committing unlawful detention, criminal trespass, and assault.

“The lady was pretty smart to be able to do what she did,” Greg told KSTU. “And so, it’s not like I was trying to guess what was really going on. She gave me some clues that there was an issue there.”

The sheriff’s report said that the woman had scheduled the locksmith’s visit before Eggertsen arrived because she wanted to keep him out of her house.

Thanks, Locksmith Greg, for being a Hometown Hero and taking action to help someone in danger.
