Utah Restaurateurs Pivot & Innovate During COVID, Looking to Expand with New Brands & New Company

Restaurateurs Andrew and Shauna Smith, who are on the cover of our Summer 2020 issue of Nugent Magazine, have not let the pandemic stop or even slow them down much in the last three months. As a matter of fact, since March, they opened the doors to three new stores, created a $1 million fund to help employees during the COVID-19 shutdown, and figured out innovative ways to keep their three brands of restaurants safely serving customers during this time. On June 1, their company Four Food Groups decided to team up with Mercato Partners and launched a new company, the Savory Fund.



The Smiths who spent the last 10 years building a restaurant portfolio with their company Four Foods Group which currently includes the brands Mo’ Bettahs Hawaiian Style, R&R Barbeque, and Swig soda fountain shops, announced their new partnership with Mercato along with a $90 million fund that will be used to develop and expand several new restaurant brands.


“There are these amazing food and beverage concerns coming out, but there’s no one that can help them go from three or four units to 30, 40 or 50 units,” said Andrew, who is now a managing director at Savory Fund.
