Birthday Wish Exceeds Expectations as 2,000 Coats Are Collected & Donated by Utah Mom, Kelly Jensen

UPDATE: We are happy to report that a Hometown Hero, Kelly Jensen, who we featured a couple of weeks ago, surpassed her “birthday wish” goal to collect 1,000 coats for children and families in Utah. Kelly posted on her Instagram account @kelllyejensen, that she wanted to do a service for her birthday and she requested donations of coats--hoping to collect 1,000. She set up coat drop off stations and friends and followers responded. In two weeks, she actually doubled her goal--and collected 2,000! Thanks to the many Utah residents who donated coats and money, and helped to wash, clean, sort, and collect coats, scarves, and gloves. In addition, over $6,000 was donated and Kelly was able to buy new coats, hats, and gloves. Over 800 hats, gloves and scarves were collected, and 250 new sweatshirts for high school-aged kids. The goods were delivered to five Title One Schools, a men’s and women’s shelter, two high schools, refugee families, three elementary schools, and a childcare center. "Thank you for linking arms with us, thank you for showing up and ... especially THANK YOU for opening your hearts and continuing to let your beautiful light shine on those who need its warmth,” said Kelly. Great job Kelly! Thanks again for helping our community and being a Hometown Hero. ____ Nugent Magazine loves sharing GOOD NEWS, GOOD PEOPLE, and GOOD THINGS happening in Utah and the world.
