The EXPECTED and the UNEXPECTED

The expected and the unexpected. As expected, Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah received it’s 23rd No. 1 ranking for “Stone Cold Sober Schools” by the Princeton Review. The sober category is based on answers students provide about the use of alcohol and drugs at their school, the number of hours they study each day outside of class, and the popularity of campus fraternities and sororities. BYU ranked No. 1 for low beer usage, No. 2 for both low hard liquor usages, and for religious students and No. 5 for low marijuana use. It also ranked No. 8 for having the least politically active students. Where does the state rival University of Utah rank? Well, the U of U was ranked No. 4 for Best Health Services and No. 5 for Best Athletic Facilities and beats BYU in having a No. 5 ranking for least politically active students. Which brings us to the unexpected political news of yesterday… Hip-hop artist and rapper, and former supporter of Donald Trump, Kanye West filled out the necessary paperwork and got the required 1,000 signatures from registered voters to appear on the Utah ballot as an unaffiliated presidential candidate, according to Utah elections director, Justin Lee. “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States!,” said West in a Tweet. West, who first announced his 2020 White House bid last month, had filed the Federal Election Commission paperwork for his campaign but has already missed the filing deadlines for other states. “It’s amazing how far down the list this is on the things I didn’t expect in 2020,” said Utah Lt. Governor, Spencer Cox on his Twitter feed. Cox received the notarized document from West and stamped it for approval. Cox posted the document on his Twitter as shown here. Two additional candidates, Brock Pierce and Joe Mchugh also declared their candidacy (as unaffiliated) for President of the United States, according to Vote Utah.
